Approach
and Radio Procudure
The
Royal Cape Yacht Club requests all visiting yachts to contact
them beforehand to enable the Club to ensure moorings will
be available. Their Office Hours are:
Monday
- Friday: 08h30 - 17h00
Saturday & Sunday: 09h00 - 15h00
The
Club Manager can be contacted at the Club during working hours.
The Marina Manager, Mr Edmund Macauley, is available everyday
from 08h30 to 17h00.
As
the RCYC has been delegated to control all yacht movement
in Table Bay Harbour, it is therefore not necessary for yachts
visiting the RCYC to report in by radio when entering Ben
Schoeman or Duncan Docks, to Harbour or Port Authorities.
Arriving yachtsman must, however, keep a listening watch on
VHF Channel 16 (and 14 if dual watch is available) and on
arrival at the yacht club, contact either the Club or the
Marina Manager. Yachts are required to keep to Starboard at
all times when entering or leaving the harbour and the Small
Craft Basin and to keep clear of commercial and Harbour craft
at all times.
Club
Facilities and Regulations
The
Royal Cape Yacht Club is situated in the Yacht Basin at the
South-east end of Duncan Dock and is clearly marked on the
chart provided. Dress regulations in the lounge and bar areas
are footwear, shorts and shirt (no singlets). This rule is
strictly enforced at all times. In the Ladies Bar, dress should
be smart, casual and no children are allowed in this area.
Mooring
charges for visiting yachts are as follows:
Marina & "M" Berth - R2,35 per metre per day.
Insurance - R2,50 per day Globe Wall - no charge (see below
"Harbour Regulations").
No time limit has been set for yachts visiting Royal Cape
but if those moorings are needed, then visiting yachts can
be asked to leave and given a weeks notice to do so. If there
is a reciprocal agreement with the Skipper's yacht club no
charge is levied for use of club facilities. If not, a charge
for temporary membership of the Club is applied.
An
emergency buoy has been placed in the middle of the yacht
basin entrance and towing can be arranged on request for assistance
at R100,00 a tow, during normal office hours, otherwise request
should be directed to the Table Bay Port Control. Electricity
and water are available on the marinas and diesel can be obtained
through Action Yachting.
The
club slip is booked in advance, but if notified in reasonable
time, every effort will be made to accommodate at the rate
of:
up to 35 tons - Up and down R175 day on slip - R250
Yacht
toilets may not be flushed while yachts are in the Basin.
The
Club especially request that any and all pets on board visiting
yachts be kept under control and they are not allowed into
the Club House, dogs must be kept on a leash. The Club restaurant
serves lunches every day and dinners every night except Saturday
and Sundays.
The
men's and ladies' Bar is open normal public hours. As the
Club's telephone system is under heavy load for general administration
purposes, it is therefore not available for use by members
or visitors. However, public telephones have been installed
for this purpose - Tel No's: 419 1930 or 421 2907.
The Secretary and staff of the club will advise with regard
to laundry, mail etc and there are adequate shower and change
rooms, but under no circumstances can they be used for the
washing of clothing. RCYC members are required to have a RCYC
Skippers Ticket before they are allowed to take a yacht out
of the harbour. The club does not apply this jurisdiction
to visiting yachtsmen.
General
Information
The
Club encourages visiting yachts to enter in the RCYC Racing
Season and when notified can arrange moorings for the duration
of the events.
